Costa Blanca
Why choose the Costa Blanca?
The Costa Blanca is deemed by the World Health Organisation to be one of the healthiest regions in the world, not only because of the climate and laid-back lifestyle, but also it’s Mediterranean diet, based on the abundance of fresh, locally produced vegetables, fish, rice and olive oil, not to mention the wide range of fine Spanish wines produced in the region.
Many visitors choose to spend a few months here, escaping the long, grey, cold northern winter, and enjoying the breathtaking sight of the almond blossoms in February, the vines beginning to shoot in March, the fragrance of orange blossoms in April or even Christmas day on the beach.
Here are just a few of the places on the Costa Blanca near to Albir which are well worth a visit:
Altea | Benidorm | Calpe
The local languages
Don’t worry if you get a bit confused by the road signs round much of the Costa Blanca. There are 2 languages being used, Spanish and “Valenciano”. Hence, Jalón becomes Xaló and Javia, Xabiá. However the locals are very friendly and forgiving and many people will understand English. A few words, perhaps ¡hola!, adios or gracias will go a long way!
